Online Master of Mental Health: Entry Requirements

Entry requirements

To apply for La Trobe’s Master of Mental Health, you’ll need to be a domestic student, have a completed application and the following:

successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent)* in a health-related field
transcripts from prior universities
resume or CV
AHPRA Registration (with no restriction to practice)
Eligible professions are: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner, Chinese Medicine, Chiropractor, Dental Practitioner, Medical Practitioner, Medication Radiation, Occupational Therapist, Optometrist, Osteopath, Paramedic, Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Podiatrist, Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife.
employment in a setting that gives you access to mental health presentations

Please note: Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee an offer of place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

Additional entry opportunity

Your academic records, English proficiency and/or employment experience are all considered in your application to La Trobe. You must be either working as a professional where mental health skills are being utilised and membership of a professional association is current (Social work or Counselling) OR Working as a professional where you can demonstrate mental health skills are being utilised. Applicants in these eligible professions MUST be currently working in a role where mental health skills are being regularly applied as a core component of the role – in a health-related field.

Recognition of prior learning

If you’ve completed previous study, you may qualify for advanced standing. This can reduce the number of subjects required to complete your course so you graduate sooner and save on tuition fees. The amount of credit received depends on the level and relevance of your studies and the number of subjects completed. You can review the full policy and search for credit here.
